The John Glover Society Inc. was established "to honour and promote the memory of John Glover [1767-1849] and other notable artists living and working in Evandale and surrounding districts".
To this end, the Society is promoting a number of cultural projects, including the commissioning of a bronze statue of John Glover, which is located at Falls Park, on the corner of Huxtables Lane and Logan Road, in Evandale.
The Governor of Tasmania, the Honorable Sir Guy Green unveiled the statue of John Glover on Tuesday 18th February 2003; this was John Glover's birthday and the day that he arrived in Tasmania in 1831.
There is an Arts Festival held on the March long weekend which provides artists with
the opportunity of submitting a landscape painting of a titled Tasmanian
scene to be in the running for the John Glover Prize which is worth
$20,000 plus a marquette, bronze sculpture of John Glover by Peter Collette.
There is also a people's choice prize awarded, known as The Greg Waddle Prize, which is worth $3,000.
The Society cordially invites your participation in these and other activities as a Member of The John Glover Society Inc.
The annual subscription for the membership of the Society is $50 which includes a copy of the: "John Richardson Glover
Sketchbook of Evandale". This book was reproduced by The John Glover Society Inc. with all funds going to the Society. Additional family membership is $10 each.
