Jacob’s Ladder

Visiting the ranges in the late afternoon, we navigated the hairpin turns as the sun sank below the rocks, bathing the scene in golden hues. From the passenger’s seat, my eyes rove across the scene, picking out tiny details of lichen on a rock and then loosing them again in the endless sea of shapes and shadows.
