Layer of Snow

I was travelling to Lake St Clair late morning; there were reports of the likelihood of snow down to 400 metres. It meant very little to me considering I live on the New South Wales coast and snow is something that happens elsewhere. It was getting late in the day when the snow started falling. I saw the tree in the field of snow and stopped. The tree stood stark against an opaque sky. It was one of the few things in the landscape still showing distinct colour in the fading light, mist and snow cover.
