Oakmount at Days End
This work comes form my most recent excursions on a low hill to the east of our house on Norfolk Plains, near Longford. All the elements of classical landscape re here; the foregrounds detail of vegetation; the middle ground plain with is calligraphy of hedgerows, river courses and roadways; the background tier of blue mountain ranges and forever changing sky.
It is not possible to observe this landscape without thinking about John Glover of indeed his great antecedent, Claude Lorrain. My aim has been to glean whatever remains useful to us from the great European Tradition.
