Solitude
I was born here into this place; this world that surrounds me. As a child I never felt isolated from the world at large, for here was home.
A small boy, in a small town, on an island that always seemed, from my point of view, large enough and self-contained. In my smallness I felt a part of a unique vastness.
I could walk freely along a lonely beach and find untold moments of quiet joy and exhilaration in a solitude that is the antithesis of loneliness. It was so then and it remains the same today.
It’s the same for each and every one of us, whoever and wherever we are, because we are all connected.
