The Fagus – Cradle Mountain
I went to Cradle Mountain in autumn and the fagus, the only deciduous tree in Australia, was turning a rich golden. I was struck by the beauty of the landscape – dense areas of reds, burnt orange, and yellows with towering dolerite columns, lichen covered rocks, clusters of pencil pines and small lakes. There was a unique and spiritual atmosphere there – it was a special place.
