Cherry Road is somewhat incongruously located in apple country at Cradoc. Captain Percy Cherry, VC MC spent his childhood here becoming a champion apple box packer at the age of 14, and competitive rower on the adjacent waterway. He enlisted in the AIF in 1915, being quickly promoted to the rank of Captain by the time of his death at the age of 21, KIA in France during March 1917; 100 years to the month of this exhibition.
Born In Wagga Wagga NSW. Currently lives and works in Hobart Tasmania. Exhibiting since 1980s primarily in NSW including solo show at Plimmsol Gallery UTAS Hobart 2016; & Project Contemporary Art Space Wollongong 2001. Finalist in Wynne Prize, AGNSW 1992, Sulman Prize AGNSW 1987 & Blake Prize 1985. Included in Reserve Bank of Australia, Wollongong Court House and Lysaght collections.
