One Tree on the Island , 2009

oil on linen

152 x 122cm

From the artist

The image relates to my fears for the future of native species and habitat destruction in Tasmania. The birds are both native and feral. The tree is an introduced species, a 'heritage' tree. A native tree of similar age and stature might not be accorded the same respect.
