From the artist

I have a studio on the mouth of the Tamar River where I can work a lot closer to the natural world. As a result I have found myself going deeper into the detail of a specific place. I hope the image conveys some of the pleasure I get from this walk.

Artist background

Born in Launceston 1951. Lives and works in Hobart. Exhibiting since mid-1980s primarily in Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney. Major retrospective, University of Tasmanain Launceston 2015. Solo shows include QVMAG 2013-14;.and Deakin University Melbourne 2010. Winner of Hobart Art Prize 1991; John Leslie Prize Gippsland 1999; and Glover Prize 2006 & 2016. Finalist in Wynne Prize 2008 & 2009. Represented in many major state and national public gallery collections.
