Tasmania: Clearfell with smouldering Stump, 2009

oil on linen & iron sheet

92 x 91cm

From the artist

Corrugated iron is both symbolic and metaphoric. It is about shearing sheds, homesteads and settlement – a human presence. It has taken seven years of living in Tasmania to appreciate the nature and extent of the island's deep division – a people divided and a landscape divided.
