After a Hard Winter

The colour of these subalpine “herb gardens” can be absolutely brilliant by the end of a hard winter. Is it relentless frosty mornings or being covered by snow and starved of light? I couldn’t say but it’s always a joy to behold. This particular scene was on Hartz Plateau.
