After the burn (a new landscape emerges)

This painting shows ‘high vis’ figures as they move in and out of a barely defined, smoke shrouded landscape. The ‘new landscape’ in the title is not so much the regrowth that occurs after the burn, but more the hazy, disorientating environment of the recently finished burn – a landscape that is difficult to place. The painting has been painted and sanded back several times, each time leaving a residue of its previous state. I think of these revealed topographies as layers of my migration from the UK via Spain to Australia.
