Connellys Marsh

While staying at a friend’s beach ‘shack’ at the small beach community of Connellys Marsh, east of Hobart I took daily walks in the late 2024 winter mornings.

I was inspired by the natural and unassuming landscapes of the beach, dunes and bush.

The painting depicts a pocket of wild landscape where Connellys Creek begins to cross the beach to the ocean.

It is a natural landscape of the rippling creek, sand textured by thousands of micro crab burrows, dune grasses, scrub, fallen trees and rolling hills in the early daylight.
