Cradle Mountain, Tasmania

This is a studio painting, worked up from studies done on the spot in, en plein air. The work is underpinned by the philopsopy of the ‘sublime’ as defined by Edmund Burke and Emmanuel Kant. The “awesomeness’ of such Tasmanian motifs as Cradle Mountain, remain incontestable. So timeless. Defying, as it were, man’s vain pictorial constructs of ‘period and style’.
