As I paint en plein air on the Cradle Plateau, the brisk alpine air reinforces the harshness of the climate for life in a montane environment. The many moods of Cradle Plateau bring unforgettable moments, every step a journey into another world of endless shades of copper, gold and plum, interspersed with green mounded cushion plants bringing bursts of colour and texture to dwarfed and contorted alpine gardens. I sit in quiet adoration, enjoying the stunning vegetation and arthropods, a magical snippet that will stay with me long after I leave.
