Denial of Tassie history
John Glover was a colonial artist. He painted idyllic and peaceful images often, of First Nations people; however, in reality, at that time, a violent genocide was being waged. This work is an attempt to reconcile the concept of painting the Tasmanian landscape without an acknowledgment of what that landscape bore witness to. The title is a reference to the denial, which I believe serves the perpetuation of colonial domination.
