Drawn Together

It’s the dead of winter, it’s isolated.

The loneliness that hovers in like the brooding clouds above provides space and calm for me to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding landscape, and to seek comfort in its familiarity and simplicity.

The farmland, green and sodden from heavy rains, meets the rugged shoreline of the inlet, which sits just out of sight, but can be heard lapping and churning in the distance. The old windswept pines and shrubs line the paddocks edge; their branches twisted and leaning, like they are drawn together. As I take in my surrounds I am flooded with nostalgia, wistfully recalling days spent on the land; lonely but beautiful, this landscape will always draw me back home.
