Held
This painting is about a mountain. At the end of the bay it rests, on the far Western coast of lutruwita/Tasmania. Growing up, I’d watch it from my family home, surf in the ocean beneath, wander around it’s edges. Now, when I’m not there, it’s in my memory. The bold shape, the roughness and depth, the brightness of the orange lichen, the deep blue against it, all etched in my mind. I carry it with me, this familiar form and it takes me home, wherever I am.
