Learning to Swim

If we embrace the philosophy that we are the river that runs through us, we are encoded with the landscape in which we were originally immersed. The Cascade River flowed through the unique, beautiful and freezing swimming pool at Derby. Swimming in the river meant submerging in history, and its surrounding flora and fauna. This work seeks to capture the stillness and memory of a place that no longer exists. This is the landscape I carry with me. The tiny red square marks where I would usually venture to in this huge pool.
