Looking Up: Looking Out: Halcyon Days at Binalong Bay

In November 2018 I went to Binalong Bay with a group of school friends celebrating our 70th birthdays. Storms brewed but calmed and politely moved around us, truly ‘Halcyon Days’. I wanted to capture some of the externalised emotions we brought with us via the lives we have lived and aging. This painting is part of an ongoing series exploring attention, inner life, memory, seeing and looking, often from a double action: ‘looking up and looking out. Looking rather than seeing, seeing or perceptions come later, through intuitive painting. – Pierre Bonnard’. My dialogue with nature has become a dialogue with painting. I do not invent anything. I look.
