Moonrise Storm Bay

I have spent many years in travel and work on and around the waterways of Southern Tasmania and Eastern Bass Strait.

The glaciated and fragmented nature of the geology of these regions makes for a complex and variable land, water and lightscape.

Most of my work has been done in response to the ‘in here – out there’ of an event witnessed from the tenuous perch of a stout wooden fishing boat, immersed in the subject of water-sky, constantly aware of weather and its imminent effects and decisions to make. It is still essentially emotive and intangible in form and content and fuels my lifelong attempts to coax light from paint.
