Ruby on a Winter’s Day: A Snowscape, Poatina, Great Western Tiers
On a winter’s day I watched my daughters playing in the snow. While the younger one launched into an impressive snowball attack on her father, Ruby wandered away. I watched her for some time. Something about that lone figure in her red coat held me transfixed me. There was a shadow of something that I could not define. I later realised this was the distillation of childhood memories. In that snowy landscape the years that separate my daughter and me had collapsed into one moment.
