Shifting waters

During a recent boat tour around Bruny Island, Tasmania, the guide discussed the rising temperatures of the water. He shared that species typically found near Darwin have been found in Tasmania, an alarming sign of the changing climate.

Through this work, I depict the wild, exposed coastline of Bruny Island, the thick seaweed, and rugged rock faces. I used warm tones, which I left exposed as a subtle reminder of how interconnected—and vulnerable—our natural world is. As climate change accelerates, species are struggling to survive, challenging the balance of ecosystems that once seemed stable.

“Shifting Waters” speaks of the environmental changes we can no longer ignore, the often-unnoticed ways our planet is evolving.
