Shitstorm 2018

On May 10th 2018 a severe storm hit Tasmania and we are still cleaning up after it. This painting of a lightning strike on the East Coast during the storm is a dark marker of imported European agricultural methods, including our addiction to fossil fuels and their contribution to global warming and climate change. This work associates these colonialist farming practices with a traditional landscape painting that perpetuates power-relations through representing land as owned, divided, cleared and conquered.
