The Disappointment of Felix Delahaye (a French garden in Tasmania)
In 2003 the late environmentalist Helen Gee and her husband Bob Graham discovered the remains of Felix Delahye’s garden at Recherche Bay that had last been seen by Lady Franklin in 1838. This discovery lead to blocking of the clear fell logging of the area and to an awareness of the friendly and positive intercultural relationship between the Aboriginal people and these early Europeans in stark contract to subsequent history.
