The Long View

I first saw this house nearly twenty years go, on a farm in the central highlands. For all that time it has remained empty. Despite being buffeted by winter storms and its wooden boards parched by summer winds, it has remained oblivious to the long view that stretched out beyond it. Without any life within, its curtains drawn, the windows are sightless to the world it inhabits.
