This is a depiction of Tor Hill between Ouse and Bothwell – a landscape that would have been familiar to Glover. His painting of Cawood on the River Ouse in 1838 inferred an Antipodean Arcadia. I frequently paint this road. Regardless of how familiar I have become, I never really know quite what to expect beyond each corner – another season, another year, it is always changing.
