The Weld – Moorina

This plein air painting of the Weld River focuses on the interplay of light and atmosphere within the rugged wilderness. The dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy danced across the river’s surface, creating a dynamic contrast between warm highlights and cooler shadows. While immersed in the scene, I encountered copperhead snakes and echidnas, subtle reminders of the vibrant life surrounding me. These encounters, paired with the ever-changing light, inspired a deeper appreciation of the river’s tranquil yet vivid energy, which I sought to capture in this work.
