Trespassers, near Patterdale

A golden, late summer evening on the way to Deddington. Clouds gathered, offering the promise of rain to the dry hills. The thistles and other weeds – trespassers in this ancient land – clung tenaciously to the parched roadside. Invasive interlopers, protected by thorns, ready to spread their seeds on the rising wind. The scene was starkly beautiful, but unsettling; evidence of an alien world pushing its way into the bush.
