Tributary of the North Esk River

Most people visit this area, near Launceston, to fly fish for trout. I prefer to find a little nook to paint en plein air watercolours. One of these, which I did many years ago with the help of a few persistent mosquitoes, has proved very fruitful for my studio work, and I return to it often as a reference sketch when the feeling strikes me. I painted this one a few weeks ago after bumping into a friend who’d just visited Tasmania for the first time. His enthusiasm reminded me of how much I love this unique island, and I went straight to work on this piece.
