While the sun burns behind the islands
These tree ferns growing in the Nelson Valley once flourished on the ancient supercontinent, Gondwana. Following the breakup of Gondwana, these species found themselves separated by vast distances. Contemplating this reminded me of the haunting line in ‘The Blue House’ by Tomas Transtromer. We do not actually know it, but we sense it: our life has a sister vessel which plies an entirely different route.
